Middlebrough Centre Square surrounds Mima and at 19000 square metres it is the largest civic space in Europe. Designed by Erick van Egeraat Associated Architects, along with landscape architects West 8, it includes unique corten steel walkways and large areas of lawn, together with a 120-jet water feature.
David decided that to obtain a different perspective of the scheme he would have to find a suitably tall building to capture the entire site. He knew from researching the location that the 17 storey Centre North East building would provide the perfect platform from which to photograph the landscaping scheme.
